Rajesh Bansal has done his graduation in Electronic Engineering from NIT, Surathkal in 1985. He started his career as Scientist in Indian Space Research Organization.

In 1994, Rajesh Bansal was involved in the development of first Single Phase Electronic Meter, in India. He has worked for various energy meter companies including DZG Germany.

In 2004, he joined BSES Delhi, Reliance group, as Head of Meter Management and Energy Audit and in 2021 reached to position of CEO. In recently announced, performance evaluation report by Ministry of Power, BRPL is ranked at the Top with only utility to secure A+ grade.

He is widely traveled man and has good exposure of world wide metering, data usage and power distribution technology. He has shared his experience with various international meter manufacturers, Meter ASIC designers, Utilities and service providers to Utilities in China, Taiwan, Korea, Europe, Mexico, Egypt, Romania and with Power distribution companies in Brazil, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, south Africa & Nigeria.

He is a strong believer in DATA and Based on his metering knowledge, and utility experience, he has written a series of papers about “Role of energy meters and usage of meter data”, Smart Apps – next step to data analytics, How to leverage benefits from smart grid data, validation of smart metering system, addressing utility objectives. He has shared his knowledge and experience at various national and international platform in the field of power distribution business like Network health monitoring, electricity theft, consumer behavior monitoring , cost optimization, revenue protection, network fault reduction, energy audit, power cost optimization etc.

Presently he is pursuing his passion and advising various companies and start Ups, sharing his knowledge and experience at various platform, conduct session on “Fascinating world of power distribution” regularly to enhance interest of student and young professional into core engineering. He is member of various government committees/ task force and Chairman of CBIP Metering manual committee.
